Trabzon: 3-Day Eastern Black Sea Tour

This 3-day Eastern Black Sea tour from Trabzon is designed for travelers who want a compact first introduction to northern Turkey without changing hotels or arranging separate day trips. You stay for two nights in Trabzon city center and spend two full days exploring the region’s best-known routes: Sumela Monastery, Zigana and Hamsikoy, followed by Uzungol and Solakli Valley.

At Sumela Monastery, you see one of the region’s most distinctive historic sites set into a steep forested mountainside, while Zigana and Hamsikoy introduce the mountain landscapes and local village character of inland Trabzon. Your 3-day Black Sea tour begins in Trabzon. On arrival at Trabzon Airport, our team will meet you and provide a private transfer to your hotel in Trabzon city center. Depending on your booking, accommodation will be arranged at a 4-star or 5-star hotel.

After check-in, the rest of the day is free. You can relax at the hotel or explore nearby Trabzon Square, Ortahisar, local cafés and shopping streets independently before the following day’s Sumela Monastery, Zigana Pass and Hamsikoy tour.

After breakfast at the hotel, we set out for the Sumela Monastery tour. On arrival at Altindere Valley National Park, we take the included shuttle service to the upper access point and continue with a short walk through the forest to reach Sumela Monastery. With commentary from your licensed guide, you will learn about Sumela Monastery’s history, rock church, chapels, and traces of monastic life preserved within this remarkable complex.

After the monastery visit, we continue toward Zigana Pass, one of the historic mountain routes of the Eastern Black Sea region. Following a short stop surrounded by mountain scenery, we head to Hamsikoy, a peaceful village known for its traditional food and famous rice pudding. Here, you may enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and try the well-known Hamsikoy rice pudding. At the end of the day, we return to Trabzon city center and drop you off at your hotel. The evening is free for you to relax or explore the city at your own pace.
